Dedicated Server: Is there a minimum contract term for hosting accounts / dedicated server?
Internet hosting services have three types of which are the virtual private server, the colocation centre and the dedicated server. One of those three that I have mentioned which is Dedicated Server is the focus of this article. What exactly is a dedicated server?
A dedicated server as mentioned is one type of a web hosting system that you would lease or rent for the exclusive use of your company or your web site alone. This would be greatly beneficial if your web site creates a substantially large amount of site traffic in a day plus it gives you and your clients the security when it comes to financial and personal information that they give out. A dedicated server has an enormous storage space on the hard disk that constantly allows you to upgrade the applications on your web site keeping it at the top of the chain thus allowing an increased chance of site traffic that would of course benefit you and your web site or company.
Advantages of a dedicated server
Aside from the advantages I have mentioned above, once you lease a dedicated server you are given the assurance of full access to customization for planning and managing site traffic into your web site. Plus you get full access to the memory of the server and the data processing power whenever and wherever you may need access. Worried about the money or the fees they would be charging you when your site gets increase online traffic? Worry not since with the dedicated server you get unlimited bandwidth meaning you wouldn’t be charged extra if site traffic increases. As mentioned above your web site constantly get the upgrades the applications need thus keeping your hardware at the top just like buying a new car and having a new one remodeled every 3 months.
One great advantage when you lease a dedicated server is the benefit of choosing your own operating system, either Windows or Linux, so you get to have the operating system that is appropriate for your web site. Upgrades are one thing but technical support is another. With dedicated servers you get the access to the best dedicated server suppliers who manage and constantly monitor your server especially in times of increase site traffic. Talk about getting the best deal for your money indeed.
Contract Term
So when you do get to lease or rent a dedicated server, how long does the service such as technical support last? Some web server suppliers don’t enforce a contract length for any of the web host services plus you can even cancel the purchased or leased web service at any time you want to. However in dedicated hosting the case would be as follows: the contract period is a minimum of one month for all dedicated servers.
The down side for this is that you do not get your money back as well if in case you cancel the service in a minimum of 30 days. The only time you do get your money back is when a failure occurs in the server hardware or you leased a dedicated server yet the hardware isn’t as what was specified on the advertisements.
That would be the basics on what you should know when you lease a dedicated server but chances are you wouldn’t cancel the web server if you get what you paid for which of course is what happens all the time. Just make sure to trust an effective and efficient web host provider.
